Things to Consider when hiring a Bouncy Castle

So its that time of year and you are considering hiring a Bouncy Castle for the Birthday Party, Wedding, Back Garden BBQ that you have been planning. Below are some tips to consider when hiring a Bouncy Castle from a company.

1) Size - Remember that almost all measurements shown on Websites for Bouncy Castles are approximate, at the time of manufacture when they are being made they do not guarantee 12ft x 12ft is exactly that. When hiring a Bouncy castle the general rule of thumb is you should always leave 3ft around the sides and back of the Bouncy Castle at least to ensure safety and enough room to Anchor the castle safely into the ground.

2) Anchoring - How is the Bouncy Castle going to be anchored to ensure it is safe for Children & Adults alike to use. If you have a Grassed garden area then this is easy, and all companies will provide regulation size Stakes with them to use. These do not make a mess of the garden and leave only a small hole. If you are having an event on astro turf, false turf, or concrete then this must be highlighted to any company at the time of booking. Only a few companies in Essex and the surrounding areas will hire Bouncy Castles outdoors and on hard surface. In order to do this they must drill small holes into the ground to anchor the bouncy castle safely. In the case of both concrete and astro turf this does leave a small amount of damage.

3) Height of Bouncy Castle - If you are hiring a Bouncy Castle indoors or have a garden with over hanging trees, please ensure that you check the height of castle at the time of booking. These can vary greatly from 6ft up to 13ft and onwards. Our toddler castles are all 6ft high making them the perfect fit for Indoor birthday party packages. Our Adult Disco dome is 13ft tall and needs plenty of room, most halls around Colchester will not have a high enough ceiling for this.

4) Access - All companies will ask how they can gain access into the event location to install your equipment. If the event is at your house and you live in a terraced house or have no side access, sometimes you may wish us to come through your house. Please notes Bouncy Castles when rolled can be difficult to move and are still very large, this is not always possible and it is best to check with the company at the time of booking.

5) How many persons can go on the equipment safely at once - This is dependant on the size of the bouncy castle bed (the bouncy bit). Companies will know the recommendations for this, they will also know based on the height of the walls and other information the age range suitable for using the castle.

6) Safety & Certification - All bouncy castles should be subject of an annual test. These could be thought of as a kind of MOT for them, Known as an RPII or PIPA Test. Very often community centres and event locations will request to see these at the time of you booking them or before allowing companies to put equipment up.
